Infant Jesus of Prague
Infant Jesus of Prague replica
The statue of the Infant Jesus appears to be the most admired Christian religious symbol in Prague, attracting pilgrims from all parts of the world. It is located in the Church of Our Lady Victory in the Lesser Town of Prague.
The statue has been carved from wood, is 19" (47cm) high and coated with wax. It is traditionally dressed into robes of colors corresponding to liturgical seasons. This is from where the color options of our miniatures come.
The Infant Jesus statue came to Prague from Spain as a wedding gift to the mother of Princess Polyxena of Lobkowicz at the beginning of 17th century. Polyxena gave it to the Discalced Carmelites in 1628 who had placed it on public display. Numerous miracles and extraordinary hearings of prayers were soon registered in connection with the statue. The reputation of Infant Jesus of Prague grew and soon spread throughout the world.
Here we offer selection of ceramic figures designed as replica of the Infant Jesus of Prague holy statue. The figures are dressed in embroidered coat available in five colors corresponding to the actual statue (red, white, blue, green and yellow).
