Chodolate Prague

If you say chocolate, the countries of origin which come into your mind first are typically Switzerland and Germany. Yes, the Germans produce excellent chocolates - I like Hachez the most. But there are several local producers in Prague whose  products are really great and I enjoy them each time I walk by.
The largest one is Choco-Story, museum of chocolate in Celetna Street. They not only run large shop with endless varieties of coca products, but they also explain from where chocolate originated and where the cocoa beans are being grown. I found it very interesting.
Another one is a small shop at the corner of Nerudova Street, just below the Prague Castle. They sell hot liquid chocolate which is simply gorgeous.
Enjoy!

Prague Summer 2021

This Summer in Prague is rather calm. There are only few tourists on the streets and in the pubs and theatres. Yet there are some - and we are happy about it. There are people already travelling again, which is a good thing. This also means that we locals can enjoy reasonable prices in the establishments in the city center which had to decrease their pricelists considerably. It is a pleasure to sit in the garden pub on the Old Town Square just opposite to the Astronomical Clock and have a beer for just 50 Czech Crowns (and not hundred like before). This is an opportunity for the tourists as well - come early until the prices remain low!ยจ It is also truth that many pubs and shops have closed during the last 15 months. I would say there are less than a half of souvenir and crystal glass shops compared to pre-pandemic times. Some were converted to candy stores, museums, others simply remain closed. But I guess it is the same situation everywhere in the world.

Alone with Prague Astronomical Clock

View of the Prague Astronomical Clock you could never achieve before

With the Prague city center almost free of tourists, I have experienced something very unusual - I was able to see and photograph the whole Astronomical Clock from the pavement up to the tower spikes just myself, without any crowd or even single person standing between me and the wall. As you can see on the picture - the full Clock is revealed, including the basement level door.
The picture was taken at about 9 PM, so it is kind of dark.

What makes a "real Czech" souvenir?

If you ask someone what typical Czech products are, you would most probably get answers like crystal glass, garnet jewelry, wooden puppets or beer. Souvenir is not the same as typical product. Souvenir is something you want to remind you of the place where you have been or would like to go to.
